Newsletter 11/11
November 2011
I haven’t written a Newsletter for a while because I’ve been busy writing my latest, The Panther. As you may recall, this is a John Corey/Kate Mayfield book and it is set in Yemen, a country that is now in turmoil. My intention was to go to Yemen for research, but the situation there is still unsettled and unsafe, so instead I went to the beach.
The Panther was due to be published in Spring 2012, but now it looks like it will be published in September 2012, in time for the holidays. Also, that gives everyone enough time to finish the book before the world ends on December 21, 2012.
Meanwhile, you can listen to a new short story I’ve written. Here’s the info:
Newly released Nelson DeMille Short Story!
The Book Case published November 1st
In this story, we see John Corey in his early years as an NYPD Detective, before he became involved with the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force.
Available as AudioBook downloadonly.

Please download this. It’s a very good story and it’s cheap.
Also, here’s an email I received from a sharp-eyed lady:
Hi Nelson,
I just noticed that a copy of THE LION’S GAME was very clearly shown in a bookcase over the shoulder of actress Zooey Deschanel on her new TV show New Girl. Season 1 Episode 2 — Kryptonite at 20.12 minutes
Kind regards,
Lisa
I hope they don’t send me a bill for “Product Placement.”
I haven’t gotten many reader emails through my website for many months, and I began to think my fans had all abandoned me. Then I remembered that I’d shut down my mailbox for a while, which explains why no one is writing, but the mailbox is open again if you’d like to drop me a line or two telling me how much you enjoy buying my books. Remember — you don’t have to read them. You only have to buy them. In fact, I’ve downloaded all my books into my e-reader and I haven’t read any of them. And when I’m in a bookstore I always buy one or two of my books, just to see them rung up on the cash register. And once or twice a month I buy a few of my books from an e-retailer, and I get excited when the package arrives. You should do this, too. It’s very satisfying, good for the economy, and it will bring you good luck up until December 21, 2012.
And don’t forget, the Mystery Writers of America Annual Anthology was published in April. The title is THE RICH AND THE DEAD. I bought this book the day it came out and I read every story, and loved them all. Especially my own. In fact, I am the editor of the anthology, so, of course, I loved all the stories that I picked. You will, too.
And finally, don’t forget, my latest, THE LION is now available in the oversized easy-to-read, easy on the wallet trade paperback edition, and PLUM ISLAND was reissued in August as an oversized paperback. Both books are also available as an AudioBook and an e-book.
All my books make wonderful Thanksgiving gifts. Better than a stupid pumpkin candle. Those things really stink.
Nothing new on the movie front, but I hope to have something to report in December. If not, I’ll make something up.
I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and wonderful Thanksgiving. And for those men and women serving overseas, I thank you for your service and wish you a safe and speedy return home.
Sincerely,
